About us

We started jae after reminiscing about our childhood Bermuda bags a few years ago. Between our nostalgia for those beloved handbags and a shared passion for textiles, we set out to create a modern-day version of the Bermuda bag.

In 2021, we launched the jae Bag – made from finer materials and with greater utility in mind than the Bermuda bags of our youth. jae Bag handles are larger, crafted from solid wood and natural brass hardware, and feature slipcovers made with high-quality fabrics used in interior design. We've since added colored lacquer and acrylic handles that get “dressed” in the wide variety of slipcovers we offer.

Design showrooms, estate sales and vintage markets are continual sources of textiles and inspiration for our handbags. Our aim is to be a go-to source for unique, artful, high-quality and well-crafted accessories that make a statement. Customers have told us they love the jae Bag for its quality craftsmanship, versatility, and the variety of our slipcover patterns and colors.

jae handles and slipcovers are crafted in small batches by talented artisans in Southern California. Small batch production ensures that our designs are made with attention to detail, stay unique and fresh, and are worthy of becoming an investment piece that is versatile and lasting – perhaps future fashion heirlooms that will become prized vintage pieces someday!
