Bespoke Slipcovers
Welcome to our Bespoke Slipcover page!
We’ve paused our regular Bespoke Customer's Own Materials (COM) Slipcover program to focus solely on creating custom needlepoint canvas slipcovers from our collaboration with love mhb studio.
It’s been a joy to turn your beautiful canvases into custom slipcovers, seeing your WIPs and fabric choices, and connecting with many of you as you complete and send in your canvases and fabrics.
Here you’ll find everything you need to know as you finish your canvases.
Blocking
Blocking is not included in the finishing process. Your canvases must be blocked before sending them to us – thank you!
Please also trim all waste knots before sending us your completed canvas and fabrics.
Fabric Choices
Fabric must be continuous yardage, not multiple pieces of fabric. Please avoid fabrics that have a wide and/or a loose weave. We cannot use leather, suede, vinyl or quilted fabric.
Side opposite the needlepoint canvas: Send at least 1/4 yard of fabric. We recommend a medium-to-heavyweight cotton twill to support the heft of the canvas. A fabric weighing about 12-14 ounces per yard is a good choice because it balances the weight of the stitched canvas. Avoid fabrics heavier than 14 ounces a yard.
Many fabric websites list fabric weight per yard, or you can ask a local fabric store.
Reverse side of the slipcover (when you turn the side with needlepoint inside out): Send a 1/2 yard. We recommend medium-weight cotton twill or a heavyweight linen/cotton blend. About 8-10 ounces per yard is ideal.
Shipping Address:
When your canvas is done (and blocked), please send it via USPS* with your fabrics to:
jae
P.O. Box 6332
Laguna Niguel, CA 92607
*UPS does not ship to USPS post office boxes.
Pattern Positioning
We'll be in touch when we receive your canvas and fabric. If you’ve chosen a fabric(s) with a pattern, or design motif, we’ll send you an image and consult with you on how your fabric’s design motif fits within the slipcover's dimensions.
If a fabric's repeat (the space between where a pattern begins and ends) is larger than the dimensions of the slipcover, you won't be able to see the complete motif on the slipcover.
Timing
Please complete stitching and ship the canvas with your fabric choices to jae within six months of your receipt of the canvas.
Once we receive your completed canvas and fabrics, allow at least 4-6 weeks for slipcover finishing once we’ve confirmed the pattern layout with you.
Other important notes:
- Please don’t send fabric without the finished stitched canvas.
- All canvas sales are final. This is a custom slipcover: it’s non-returnable and non-cancellable.
- This and all other jae slipcovers are designed for jae Bag handles. Our slipcovers do not work with vintage Bermuda bag handles.
- This product is for retail purchase only: not offered for wholesale purchase.
- We do not offer our needlepoint slipcover template, blank canvases or assistance in developing an original needlepoint canvas for our handbag handles. We only create needlepoint slipcovers from the canvases that we sell.
